PRP Hair Treatment in Tampa: Strengthen and Regrow, Without Surgery

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) at our Tampa clinic concentrates the growth factors in your own blood and returns them to your scalp with a fine needle, waking up weakened, thinning follicles. Drug-free, no downtime, backed by published clinical evidence. It strengthens what you still have; it does not revive what is already gone.

Three People PRP Helps Most

Early thinning

Your hair is losing density but the follicles are alive, the ideal PRP case. Growth factors strengthen miniaturizing follicles while there is still something to save.

Around a transplant

Grafts get better soil and the hair around them gets reinforcement. Many of our FUE patients add PRP to support recovery and protect the non-transplanted zones.

Women with diffuse thinning

When surgery is not the answer, diffuse loss, unstable donor, PRP is the medical treatment that still is. No drugs, no downtime, hair-friendly. See our female hair loss page.

Your Blood Does the Work

Centrifuge tube of blood separated into layers: golden platelet-rich plasma above red blood cells
After the spin: the golden layer is the concentrate we use
  • Platelets are your body’s repair crew. They carry growth factors that signal tissue to heal, build blood supply and cycle follicles back into growth.
  • The centrifuge concentrates them. A small blood draw is spun until the platelet-rich golden plasma separates from the red cells.
  • Fine injections return them to your scalp, directly into the thinning zones, where the growth factors go to work on weakened follicles.
  • Autologous means yours. Nothing synthetic, nothing foreign. The entire treatment comes out of your own arm.

Your Session, Step by Step

About an hour, start to finish. No downtime. Most patients come on a lunch break.

Patient in the treatment chair while the provider draws a small tube of blood from his arm

Minutes 0–1001

A small blood draw

Same as a routine lab test. One small tube from your arm is all the treatment needs.

Provider placing the blood tube into a tabletop centrifuge on the clinic counter

Minutes 10–2502

The spin

Your sample goes into the centrifuge until the platelet-rich plasma separates: the golden layer, concentrated several times above baseline.

Patient reclined in the treatment chair while the provider applies numbing cream to the top of his scalp

Minutes 25–3503

Numbing

Topical anesthetic on the treatment zones. By injection time, you feel pressure and small pinches, not pain.

Patient reclined in the treatment chair while the provider makes a shallow injection of platelet-rich plasma into the thinning area of his scalp

Minutes 35–6004

Precise injections

The plasma goes into the thinning areas in a measured grid: shallow, quick, methodical. Then you go back to your day.

The plan that makes it work

PRP is a course, not a single shot: 3–4 sessions about a month apart, then maintenance every 4–6 months. Changes build with your hair cycle. Expect the mirror to notice between months 3 and 6.

What the Evidence Actually Says

We cite it the way we’d want it cited to us, results and limits together:

PRP on Surgery Day

Every FUE at the clinic can include PRP the same day: a small sample of your blood, spun and applied to the scalp where the grafts go.

Applied where the grafts goInjected into the recipient area on surgery day, so the growth factors are there while the grafts settle.
Support for the hair around themPRP also reaches the thinning hair next to the grafts, the frame your new hairline sits in.
What the studies reportSmall randomized studies of FUE patients report denser early growth and less shedding with PRP; a recent review calls the evidence promising but limited.

PRP Questions, Answered

Does PRP actually work?

Meta-analyses of randomized trials report real density gains, about 27 hairs/cm² in one 2024 review. The honest caveats: it works on thinning follicles (not bald skin), protocols vary across studies, and results need maintenance to hold.

How many sessions until I see something?

The loading course is 3–4 monthly sessions. Because hair grows in cycles, the mirror typically notices between months 3 and 6, less shedding first, then thicker regrowth.

Does it hurt?

The scalp is numbed first. Most patients feel pressure and quick pinches. The whole visit is about an hour and you drive yourself home, or back to work.

Is it safe? What are the side effects?

PRP comes from your own blood, so there is nothing foreign to react to. Studies report only minor, short-lived effects: tenderness, redness or tightness at the injection sites for a day or two.

Can I do PRP instead of a transplant?

If your loss is early and follicles are alive, maybe. If zones are fully bald, no: PRP cannot create follicles, only strengthen them. The consultation answers this honestly before you spend a dollar.

PRP right after my transplant: why?

Growth factors support graft healing and strengthen the existing hair around the transplanted zones, protecting the frame your new hair sits in. It is the most common add-on our FUE patients choose.

Do I have to keep doing it forever?

To keep the benefit, yes, maintenance every 4–6 months. That is the honest deal with every non-surgical hair treatment. It is why we pair PRP with daily supplementation and re-evaluate your plan at each follow-up.

Can I combine PRP with Nutrafol® or medications?

Yes. They work through different mechanisms and are commonly stacked. We design the combination at your consultation based on your scalp, your labs and your goals.

How much does PRP hair treatment cost?

PRP is priced per session, with packages for the full loading course of 3 to 4 sessions, and the plan depends on how many zones we treat. The free consultation maps your scalp and gives you the exact plan and price in writing. Financing is available.
